The last couple of months have been a bit of a whirlwind and I’ve really only just got used to the idea of The Lighthouse at the End of the World being a thing out in the world
So, I was caught by surprise (and also kind of delighted) to find out last week that Titan already have a cover and release date for the next Cities of the Drift novel. [Insert drum roll thing here] so:
The Clockwork Leviathan will be published in spring 2027 and has an absolutely gorgeous, courtesy of the brilliant Miss Nat Mack.

I really love the way the cover incorporates motifs from the Lighthouse cover, but is at the same time its own very-lovely-to-look-at thing.
Turning to what’s between the covers, the novel is a standalone story set in the Greater London universe, so you don’t need to have read Lighthouse to enjoy this one. To give you a sense of the flavour here’s some prototype blurb courtesy of my brilliant editor, Daniel:
Cecile McLellen’s life is a drag. Her shelf-stacking job is drudgery, her boyfriend an idiot and her lucky brother is off god-knows-where.
So it’s a pleasant surprise when, one night, she discovers a blue-glowing intruder named Nonesuch in the act of stealing a seaside souvenir, who promptly whisks Cecile off to Greater London, a parallel version of Cecile’s own city.
But Cecile has no time to marvel at her new reality – Greater London is in the middle of a civil war between the East India Company and the City, and her brother is caught up in the middle of it. Worse than that, a bigger threat is looming on the horizon, the cosmic entity Leviathan who wields a terrifying and impossible army.
Along with the seemingly ageless escapist Marya Petrovna, a talking VW Beetle and the grumpy daughter of a god-emperor, Cecile must face occult Soviet cosmonauts, memetic armies and perhaps worst of all, capitalism; otherwise everyone, everywhere is doomed.
At least it’s not another shift in the supermarket, right?
